Stephen Graham miniseries broke all records on Netflix
Indian actor Emraan Hashmi has shared his thoughts about the challenges of producing a show like Adolescence in India.
Starring Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper in the pivotal roles, the miniseries backed by Netflix turned out to be the year’s most watched shows. It broke all records on the streaming platform.
The psychological thriller was largely praised due to its captivating storyline.
Emraan believes that, however, there is a need of a show like this in India, but there are multiple challenged involved with it.
He stated, “Adolescence has worked mostly because of its subject matter – the pitfalls of growing up in these times and social media. But inherently, it’s such a risky project because it’s just four episodes where each one is shot in a single take."
Calling it a 'logistical nightmare', the Ground Zero actor said that if you ask a producer to make a series like Graham’s project, nine out of ten will tell you, “Are you out of your mind.”
The 46-year-old added while talking to News 18, “13 minutes into a shot, someone may goof up, and we would’ve to do the entire thing again. What would happen to the budget? We would need a director, who leads the team, to be audacious and mad enough to make a show that way."
Adolescence follows the story of a 13-year-old boy, who is accused of murdering his female classmate.
