Darren Hayes faces darkest moment of life after horrific accident
Darren Hayes shares he survived a terrible accident that almost took his life
Darren Hayes, voice behind Savage Garden’s hits, recently opened up about a life-threatening accident that nearly took his life.
On April 18, the 52-year-old singer shared a tough truth with fans, as he revealed that he fainted while getting out of bed last month, resulting in a broken jaw and several lost teeth.
Though he’d kept it quiet at first, Darren decided to share the story after realizing his long recovery was a sign he needed to open up.
He shared a post on Instagram, writing: "On March 17, 2 months to the day after my Mother passed away, I had a terrible accident. I’ve been trying to keep it private but my lengthy recovery period means it’s easier to admit the truth.
I lost consciousness - I fainted shortly after getting out of bed and collapsed 3 times, losing consciousness each time. The blunt force trauma was so severe it snapped my left jawbone in half. I woke up in a pool of blood, terrible pain in my left side of my head and with 9 teeth shattered. I’m so lucky that I was found, and taken to the amazing team at the emergency room of St John’s Providence in Santa Monica, where they acted quickly.
"I could have died if I landed in a different position."
Darren, famous for being part of Savage Garden in the '90s, had to undergo emergency surgery after the accident. But, he’s still left in the dark about what caused him to faint in the first place.
