Colin Farrell forced to take heartbreaking decision
The Batman actor Colin Farrell takes 'tricky' decision
Colin Farrell reveals one of the most challenging decisions he has been forced to take in life.
The Total Recall actor was already going through a rough patch recently due to his father's death.
Now the 48-year-old shares during an interview with Candis Magazine he plans to settle his son James 'into a long-term care facility'.
The Dumbo alum had previously revealed that his 21-year-old son was misdiagnosed as suffering from cerebral palsy, but later it was confirmed to be Angelman syndrome.
The Irish actor confessed that he has come to this conclusion so that he can have 'control over his care' while he is alive and healthy, as per Daily Mail.
Farrell acknowledged that some parents prefer to take care of their child themselves, but he gets horrified thinking what if he has a 'heart attack tomorrow' and his ex Kim Bordenave, son's mother, gets into a 'car crash'.
The morbid thought forces him to think what would happen if such worst-case scenario happens and James is left as the 'ward of the state'.
For the unversed, the Angelman syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that impacts the nervous system of the person leading to severe mental and physical disability.
