'Bharat Kumar' Manoj Kumar passes away after battling with liver issues
Manoj Kumar, legendary actor and filmmaker who was known as India’s original “Bharat Kumar,” has passed away at the age of 87, leaving the industry mourning.
The actor breathed last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. A legendary star of Hindi cinema, he was known for patriotic films like Shaheed (1965), Upkar (1967), and Purab Aur Paschim (1970), which still inspire generations.
His deep connection with the country and his powerful performances earned him the nickname “Bharat Kumar.”
Kumar was hospitalised after experiencing heart-related issues. However, the medical report from the hospital further revealed that liver failure was also a significant factor in his death.
The iconic star was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1992 for his impact on Bollywood and later received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.
Famous for his patriotic roles, Kumar also starred in memorable films like Hariyali Aur Raasta, Woh Kaun Thi, Himalaya Ki God Mein, Do Badan, Patthar Ke Sanam, Neel Kamal, and Kranti.
