WhatsApp is set to introduce an exciting new feature that will allow users to share their favourite Spotify tracks directly in status updates in a future update.
Users will be able to explore an additional option to post music from the streaming app as a WhatsApp status update, alongside the usual option to send it as a message to a contact or a group, WABetaInfo reported citing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.8.3 update.
This upcoming update will enable Meta's popular instant-messaging app to generate a preview of the shared song, showcasing essential details such as the song title, artist name, and album cover.
The addition aims to enhance user engagement by providing a visually appealing representation of shared music, similar to the music-sharing functionalities currently available on Instagram Stories.
The new feature makes music sharing more interactive, as viewers can instantly access the shared track without needing to search for it manually.
Similar to Instagram, WhatsApp will integrate a "Play on Spotify" button within the status update, allowing viewers to open the song directly in the Spotify app with a single tap.
It is important to note that WhatsApp will not have access to the specific songs users share from Spotify. Since status updates are protected by WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption, only the intended recipients will be able to view the shared content.
This feature is under development and will be available in a future update.
