New feature in Meta's popular instant messaging app aims to simplify process of juggling several profiles
WhatsApp is poised to introduce a groundbreaking feature that promises to alter how users manage their digital communications: seamless switching between multiple accounts.
This highly anticipated update aims to simplify the often-clumsy process of juggling different personal and professional WhatsApp profiles, a common pain point for many users.
In its latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.19.10.74 update, Meta's popular instant messaging app revealed that the upcoming capability will be integrated into a new, dedicated section within the WhatsApp settings page, WABetaInfo reported.
This central hub will provide users with a clear overview of all their registered accounts, prominently displaying each account's profile picture and name, making the account-switching process as effortless as a single tap.
Upon selecting a different account, WhatsApp will transition instantly, loading the specific chat history, settings, and preferences associated with that particular profile.
This means users can expect a truly personalised experience for each account, with individual notification tones, auto-download behaviour, and backup preferences all meticulously maintained.
Crucially, the new feature will also allow users to add new accounts without any risk of compromising the data of their existing profiles.
Switching accounts does not require logging out or restarting the app, as the transition will happen instantly within the same session, allowing users to move seamlessly between profiles with just a tap.
Additionally, a confirmation message will briefly appear at the bottom of the screen, informing the user that the account switch has been completed successfully.
In this upcoming update, when a message is received on the secondary account while the user is using the primary one, WhatsApp will show a specially formatted notification which will clearly indicate which account the message belongs to by including the account name.
The notification will display the name of the sender and the name of the account that received the message, eliminating any potential confusion when managing multiple accounts.
Tapping on such a notification will automatically trigger an account switch, taking the user directly to the relevant conversation in the correct account.
This feature will be particularly useful for users who have more than one phone number and prefer not to rely on WhatsApp Business to manage a secondary account.
With the growing adoption of eSIM technology, especially on supported iPhone models where users can store eight or more eSIMs and activate them as needed, the upcoming WhatsApp feature becomes especially valuable.
However, this new feature is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app.
