Chelsea Handler finally breaks silence on her 2022 split from Jo Koy

Chelsea Handler makes public the actual reason behind the split from her boyfriend Jo Koy – and it’s not what you think!

The Chelsea Lately host and the Easter Sunday star were confirmed to be a couple by Page Six in September 2021 after having been friends for around 20 years, instantly becoming one of Hollywood’s favourite couples.

The American stand-up comedian surprisingly enough broke the news of their split on Instagram around a year later they began dating citing it as “break from our relationship right now.”

Now after a couple of years since then Handler revealed that she had “no choice” than to break up from her partner.

During her appearance at the Armchair Expert podcast February 10, 2025, the 49-year-old explained to the host Dax Shepherd that despite being “happy” and “really in love” with The Monkey King voice artist, continuing the relationship would have meant compromise on her “value system”.

She further revealed that Koy’s expectations from her as a girlfriend were “outdated”, “old-fashioned”.

However, she acknowledged that she learnt a lot from her relationship with him. She learnt to be “vulnerable” and “accept love”.
