Hrithik Roshan 'almost drowned' during 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai' underwater sequence
Hrithik Roshan's debut film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai was released on January 21, 2000
Hrithik Roshan divulged rare insights from the filming days of his debut movie Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, in which he starred alongside Amisha Patel.
In a previous BBC interview, the 50-year-old revealed that he came close to drowning during the filming of an underwater sequence.
When questioned by host Karan Thapar about whether he executed the scene himself, Hrithik affirmed that he did, spending three hours submerged 45 feet underwater.
The Fighter star said, "That was me, it was me yeah, 45 feet (underwater) I think, if I can get, yeah 45 feet underwater and sitting for three hours."
"I almost drowned. It was fun because it looked great. So, everything that you know works out for film is worth it."
It is pertinent to mention here that in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Hrithik's character Rohit meets his demise by falling into a river following a bike accident, as he lacks the ability to swim.
Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film was released on January 21, 2000.
The movie achieved instant blockbuster success, garnering over INR 800 million (US$17.8 million) globally and securing the position as the second highest-grossing film of 2000 worldwide.
