Ranveer Singh lodged an FIR against a social media account promoting a deepfake video of him.
As reported by the Hindustan Times, the 38-year-old actor’s spokesperson revealed that he filed FIR for further investigation by the Cyber Crime Cell.
The Simmba actor’s spokesperson said, Yes, we have filed the police complaint and FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr Ranveer Singh."
For the unversed, the deepfake video allegedly features Ranveer expressing his political opinions.
Although the footage seems authentic, the audio is generated by an AI-synthesized voice clone of Ranveer, recorded during his recent trip to Varanasi.
Moreover, Ranveer himself also raised alarm over his deepfake video in an Instagram story, noting, “Beware of deepfakes, friends,” accompanied by skull head emoji.
On the professional endeavor, Ranveer will next be seen portraying his iconic role as Simmba in the film Singham Again.
Alongside Ranveer, the film ensemble cast features his wife-actress Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Tiger Shroff.
The film will be released on August 15, 2024.
Furthermore, the actor will also appear in the film, Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar, releasing in 2025.
