Sydney Sweeney pokes fun at new movie, Madame Web in SNL monologue
Sydney Sweeney shares her honest reaction to Madame Web flopped at the box office
Sydney Sweeney has recently poked fun at her new movie, Madame Web in Saturday Night Live opening monologue on March 2.
“You might have seen me in Anyone But You or Euphoria,” said the 26-year-old, who plays Julia Carpenter, aka Spider-Woman, in the panned superhero movie, which was released in March.
Sydney quipped, “You definitely did not see me in Madame Web.”
During the SNL show on Saturday, the White Lotus actress also addressed her romance speculations with Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell.
Sydney rejected the rumours, calling it “not true”, revealing the audience that she co-produced Anyone But You with her fiancé.
Sydney isn’t the only actress who took dig at the movie. Her co-star Dakota Johnson, who plays the titular character, also joked about the movie during her SNL monologue back in January.
She described as “like if AI generated your boyfriend’s perfect movie”.
Not only that, viewers also mocked and derided the movie after its release. One of the movie critic Clarisse Loughrey described Madame Web as “an $80m (£63m) film with the quality of an unlicensed superhero painted on the side of a carnival ride”, adding that it felt “desperate and seemed embarrassed of itself,” via The Independent.
Meanwhile. Sydney’s SNL show showcased a performance from Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves, who sung new songs, Deeper Well and Too Good to be True.
