Dean Butler shares plans to honor 'Little House on the Prairie' costar Michael Landon

Dean Butler recently opened up about keeping his Little House on the Prairie co-star Michael Landon’s legacy alive with the help of Alison Arngrim.

Before the Little House cast reunion at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville from September 11 to 13, 2026, Butler spoke with PEOPLE magazine about how he and Arngrim are “carrying forward” their late co-star’s legacy.

The 70-year-old Canadian-American actor and producer told the outlet, “I think Alison is the welcome wagon, in terms of, if you want to be involved in the program and in all of the activity, you’re probably going to flow through Alison.”

“We’ve worked together to create this little company that does events, Prairie Legacy Productions, and we’re involved in that.”

“I think Alison’s just been amazing and has been for years. I’m a little later to that party, but I’ve obviously been very committed to getting the events to happen,” he quipped.

Butler finds all the fans’ events of Little House on the Prairie “a really important part of my life,” explaining, “Looking at it historically, Little House was Michael Landon.”

“I mean, there would be no Little House, as we know it, if Michael Landon hadn’t stepped into that and done what he did. And now I think what we do is, we are trying to honor that with the collegiality and the openness and the welcoming of people into this space,” he elaborated.

Agreeing with Dean Butler, Arngrim also gushed over Landon, saying, “Michael was a very fan-friendly celebrity, if you want to call it that. It didn’t matter where.”

“I remember walking across a parking lot at the height of Little House, and he still had fans who loved him for Bonanza,” she shared.

It is pertinent to mention that Little House on the Prairie starred Michael Landon as Charles Ingalls, Alison Arngrim as Nellie Oleson, and Dean Butler as Almanzo James Wilder.
