Tennis legends Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic unexpectedly reunited on a flight to the United States as they prepared for the hard-court season in the spring, India Today reported.
Djokovic posted a photo of himself with Rafael Nadal on social media, surprising their fans, and it went viral right away.
In addition to breaking the internet, the photo which represented their 46 Grand Slam singles victories combined also captured a moment of friendship between the two ferocious rivals.
There is a lot of excitement around the Sunshine Double, as Djokovic is aiming for a historic sixth championship at Indian Wells, which would signal his victorious comeback to a competition where he has excelled in the past.
The Miami Open and Indian Wells Open are held back-to-back as part of the Sunshine Double, which is renowned for its intense heat.
With an astounding four wins, Djokovic is one of the few athletes who have achieved the Sunshine Double several times, besides Steffi Graf and Roger Federer.
The tennis stars have faced each other on the court 59 times, out of which Nadal leads on clay surfaces (20–8) and Djokovic leads on hard courts (20–7). Both have equal scores on grass (2–2).
