Contrary to earlier reports of her demise from cervical cancer, actress and model Poonam Pandey is very much alive.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a video, in which she said, ‘ I am alive. I didn't die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I can't say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer.’
She then went on to speak more about the disease. With her video, she wrote this caption, " I feel compelled to share something significant with you all - I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn’t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this disease. Unlike some other cancers, Cervical Cancer is entirely preventable.’

However, her recent attention-grabbing stunt has sparked widespread outrage, with netizens expressing their dismay in the comment section. Calls for her arrest are gaining momentum among those who feel she crossed a line with the misleading information."
One netizen wrote, “ WORST PUBLICITY STUNT EVER!” while another one said, “ Am happy she is alive but Pls arrest her for this drama and publicity stunt.”
Some netizens felt this was no way of creating awareness about the dreaded illness, one netizen wrote, “ This was the most ridiculous way to promote something…” while another said , “Next time people won't take you seriously, you just destroyed your entire credibility."
Poonam made her feature film debut with Nasha, an erotic drama that was released in 2013. She made cameo appearances in films such as Love Is Poison (Kannada) and Aa Gaya Hero (Hindi). The actress also headlined the Telugu movie Malini & Co and The Journey of Karma.
She was also part of the television reality competition series Lock Upp. The show was hosted by actress Kangana Ranaut.
