VIDEO: IndiGo flight captain slapped by frustrated passenger over delays
Radhika Apte also shared her harrowing experience with IndiGO after she was locked inside an aerobridge for hours
A video has gone viral on the internet showing a passenger aboard an IndiGo flight, slapping the captain of the plane as he was making delay announcements, India Today reported on Monday.
In the video a passenger wearing a yellow hoodie can be seen running up to the Captain from the last row, slapping him in the face as he was announcing a further delay.
According to reports, the captain announced the delays after replacing the previous crew of the aircraft owing to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations after several hours of delay. The flight had already been delayed for 13 hours.
The flight attendant standing beside the captain, came to his rescue, trying to explain the situation. The flight attendant can be heard saying in the video, "Sir you can’t do this".
The passenger was then immediately pulled back by another passenger as he hurled insults at the staff.
The video that was posted on X, formerly Twitter on January 15 has since then garnered over 600K views, receiving mixed reactions from people, some called for action against the passenger while others said that there has been a rise in frustration against IndiGo flights due to unreasonable delays, cancellation complaints and for poor quality and standards.
A police complaint has been filed against the man and a case registered for assault.
The video has surfaced amidst growing frustration against IndiGo flights, with many people saying the passenger’s actions were justified.
On Saturday Bollywood actor Radhika Apte shared her harrowing experience with the airline after she and other fellow passengers were locked inside the aerobridge at Mumbai airport for several hours.
She said that the IndiGo staff were clueless and the passengers, including senior citizens and babies, were deprived of food.
