Karan Johar dubs Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ the ‘best film’ of 2023

Karan Johar lauded the storyline of Ranbir Kapoor’s blockbuster film Animal, disclosing that he got emotional after watching the action-crime movie.

The renowned filmmaker recently appeared at the Mega Pan India Roundtable 2023.

During the interactive session, Karan said, "I loved Animal for its front-footed, absolutely conviction-based narrative storytelling, breaking grammar, breaking myths, breaking everything that you think conforms to mainstream cinema."

The filmmaker, who recently made it to the headlines for his hit movie, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, dubbed Animal the "best film of the year." 

"It took me a while to reach this statement and a lot of courage because when you’re around people, you fear judgment," he added. 

While showering praise on Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of the film, Karan further shared, "The end when the two men are going for each other, and they play that song, I had tears in my eyes and there was only blood."

For the unversed, the story of the movie revolves around a troubled relationship between a father and his son, exceptionally portrayed by the movie's male leads.

Ranbir, who played an alpha male character in Animal, garnered praise for his impeccable acting skills.

The movie, which was released globally on December 1, 2023, also features Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Tripti Dimri.
