There has been an increase in phone-related accidents, with millennials suffering the greatest injuries, as per a recent study by the science website Study Finds.
It stated that the generation most commonly linked with financial difficulties seems to be losing track of where they are in the real world and instead turning to their cell phones as a means of escape.
Researchers discovered that there has been a 20% increase in tech-related injuries since 2020 after going through ten years' worth of data from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System, "with millennials being the most prone to such incidents."
The main cause of the increase is a rise in phone-related injuries, which make up 23% of all tech-related injuries in America.
“From tripping over cords to walking into objects while texting, mobile phones are causing an array of injuries. General pain, contusions (bruises), and even cuts to the face and head are common,” the researchers said.
“Researchers found that texting while walking is on its way to becoming the most common tech injury cause throughout the entire United States.”
Televisions ranked first nationally for tech-related injuries, accounting for 30% of all tech-related injuries, despite the fact that phone-related injuries are on the rise.
The survey found that the most frequent complaints were of lower back sprains and strains from lifting the big dumb boxes.
Video game consoles and computers have also contributed significantly to the harm.
