Jeff Bezos $500 million yacht Koru drops anchor in South Florida before Miami move
Jeff Bezos's Koru is world's biggest yacht with three masts, many decks
Jeff Bezos's $500 million yacht, Koru, has anchored in Port Everglades and is parked next to an oil tanker because of its immense size alongside other large freight ships.
According to Boat International, Koru is the world's biggest sailing boat, with three masts and many decks.
It was discovered earlier this year at sea.
Its landing on the southern coast comes about a month after the 59-year-old entrepreneur revealed his intention to relocate to Miami from Seattle. Bezos announced his departure in an Instagram post on November 2.
"I've lived in Seattle longer than I've lived anywhere else and have so many amazing memories here. As exciting as the move is, it's an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart," he shared in the caption.
The Instagram post includes a video of Bezos giving his father a tour of Amazon's first headquarters.
In the caption, he stated that his parents, as well as his fiancée Lauren Sánchez, encouraged his decision.
"My parents [Miguel and Jacklyn] have always been my biggest supporters," Bezos wrote. "They recently moved back to Miami, the place we lived when I was younger (Miami Palmetto High class of '82 — GO Panthers!) I want to be close to my parents, and Lauren and I love Miami."
Bezos and Sánchez, both 53, announced their relationship in January 2019. People has verified that the two will marry in May. The couple was spotted on the yacht on a romantic European holiday, according to reports.
Aside from having a wooden sculpture of Sánchez, the boat became the couple's favoured mode of transportation for their summer excursions, which included visits to Saint-Tropez and various regions of Italy. The yacht also hosted the couple's engagement celebration in August.
An insider told People after the party that "they had an amazing time with close friends" and that "they're not planning the wedding yet."
"They're still just enjoying the engagement," the source said.
