D4vd delivers shocker in court over lawyers’ change
D4vd confirms in the courtroom that he wants to change his legal team
During the L.A. County Superior Court hearing, each side of the case's representatives were present. At that moment, D4vd delivered a shocker.
The rapper, whose real name is David Burke, told the courtroom that he no longer wants his private defence lawyers to represent him.
Instead, he requested a public defender.
Despite this, the rapper's legal team has high-profile lawyers such asBlair Berk and Regina Peter.
When, the attorneys during the pre-trial proceeding toldJudge Olmedo, who in reply asked, “Is that your wish, Mr Burke?"
Burke responded, “Yes.”
That confirms the decision has come directly from the rapper rather than the other way around.
Still parting ways from Burke's legal team, Berk said his support for the musician continues.
“This morning the court granted our request to withdraw as counsel and appoint the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office after it was determined David qualified for appointed counsel,” he said.
“We continue to support David and his defence against these serious charges."
"We are grateful that the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office has taken over the representation and that David has a highly capable and committed team of attorneys and investigators behind him," Berk noted.
Meanwhile, Burke's new lawyer is Walid Fouad Kandeel, who will represent him in the accusation of killing14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
