'Days of Thunder' star questions Anne Hathaway's casting instead of Tom Cruise's ex Nicole Kidman

Days of Thunder actor Randy Quaid has criticized Tom Cruise's choice for starring Anne Hathaway opposite him in the sequel to his 1990 film.

The 75-year-old actor, who played the role of a successful car salesman and NASCAR racing team owner, took to his X account on Sunday after Tom announced that Days of Thunder 2 is under development and Anne will play his love interest instead of the Mission: Impossible star's ex-wife Nicole Kidman, who starred in the original.

Randy claimed that Anne's Democrat-geared political views make her a bad choice for the sequel.

He said, "Anne Hathaway is a leftist, woke, horrible choice for DAYS OF THUNDER NASCAR audience who are MAGA."

"The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea," Randy continued.

Randy bluntly noted, "We need Nicole back," adding, "Don’t be a p**** TomCruise. You need the original girl. It’s not personal; it’s filmmaking."

Anne, who is currently expecting her third kid, shared in the announcement post that she planned to "have this baby, then make the movie."

Randy claimed, "Anne isn’t sexy, because and if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant."

He further noted that Tom and Nicole's reunion on the big screen will draw people to theaters to watch the upcoming movie.

"If I were in control of production, a real sequel worth watching for DAYS OF THUNDER would be seeing Tom and Nicole together on screen again," Randy suggested, adding, "We don’t need a new girl; we need a new race car!"

Tom announced that Days of Thunder 2 is slated to arrive in theaters in the summer of 2028.
