Carrot Top's extortionist sets record straight on threat claims

Carrot Top's alleged extorter has broken his silence on allegations against him.

Brian Evans, accused by the comedian's legal team of trying to extort him with a sexually explicit recording, is now denying he ever threatened to release the video before Carrot Top's reported suicide attempt.

Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, remains hospitalised since the incident, which occurred on Friday. His attorney previously alleged in a September 3 legal filing that Evans threatened to submit the recording into a public court docket unless he received a $500,000 settlement.

Evans has now pushed back on that claim in comments to TMZ, insisting the recording no longer exists. "I never threatened — ever — to post any video anywhere in exchange for a settlement... The video they are discussing... was deleted a long time ago in accordance with the prior settlement," he said.

He also responded directly to news of Thompson's hospitalisation, saying he was sorry to hear the comedian had reportedly harmed himself. Evans said he doesn't see Thompson as a bad person, though he believes Thompson made a few poor decisions, adding that this still wasn't a reason to hurt himself.

Evans further said he doesn't believe he's to blame for what happened, pointing out that the full circumstances remain unclear.

He said he's relieved Thompson survived and insisted that he has no interest in damaging his reputation, saying his intentions are the opposite.
