Ruby Rose recalls her 'special bond' with Hayden Panettiere

Ruby Rose is remembering her "best friend" Hayden Panettiere one month after her passing.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 40-year-old actress revealed that she was left distraught when she heard aboutHayden's death last month.

“That was my best friend. We spoke every day for five years," Ruby told the outlet.

“I didn’t even think we were going to be friends. I didn’t know if I wanted to have any celebrity friends, because I didn’t have a great experience with the industry," she added.

The Orange Is the New Black actress revealed that when she first met Hayden, she initially avoided talking to her.

“I saw her, she saw me, and I just remember thinking, ‘Oh, no,'"Ruby recalled. “And then she ran up anyway and was like, ‘Hey, I’m Hayden. Can we go talk somewhere? We’ve got a lot in common.’ I just laughed."

“She says I said, ‘I don’t think so,’ but I think I just laughed. And then we went and talked, and we had everything in common," she continued.

"[We shared] five years of friendship, of texting every day and checking in on each other," added Ruby. “Hayden, all that she ever wanted was to have her story told her way, on her terms.”

For those unaware, Hayden was found unconcious at her residence in South Carolina on August 16.
