Jennifer Lawrence is setting the record straight on her infamous Oscars tumbles, which many accused her of “faking” not once, but twice in a row.

In an interview with The New York Times published November 1, the Hunger Games star reflected on being “viewed as too loud, too much” early in her career, and how it all came to a head when she tripped on the stairs while going on stage to receive her first Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013.

The next year, she tripped over a cone on the Oscars red carpet.

“I remember when I was nominated for Silver Linings Playbook, somebody was like, ‘Everybody loves you! What does that feel like?’ I was like, ‘It feels precarious. It’s going to come down,” Lawrence, 35, recalled.

“And then I fell getting my Oscar, and the next year I was waving to fans and I tripped on a cone and I remember being like, ‘F***, that’s it. Nobody’s gonna believe that I fell two years in a row — I did!’” she admitted.

Lawrence recalled feeling like “everybody thought [falling at the Oscars twice] meant everything that I did was fake and it was all a shtick.”

In a 2020 appearance on theAbsolutely Notpodcast hosted by Heather McMahan, Lawrence shared, “I saw [journalist Anderson Cooper] on CNN three days [after the Oscars] saying, ‘Well, she obviously faked the fall. It was so devastating because it was this horrific humiliation to me.”

She also shared on the Howard Stern Show in 2018, “I would give anything to be able to go back and redo that moment. The problem with the fall is that it startled me and it made me forget a speech, it made me forget to thank important people.”
