Work on kidney, liver institute reviewed

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting, here Sunday, which reviewed the progress of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute project. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute was the first and unique project of the country which would result in modern treatment facilities to kidney and liver patients. He said the project was also a milestone regarding development of health sector and provision of modern treatment facilities. He said that Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute would be a masterpiece regarding medical science, clinical research and provision of treatment facilities, as the project would be state-of-the-art and on a par with the institutions of the highest standard of the world. 

He expressed displeasure over delay in some matters relating to the project and reprimanded the authorities concerned. He said that delay in the implementation of this project of national importance would not be tolerated and work should be carried out on the project with a national spirit and sense of responsibility. He directed that the project should be implemented in a professional manner.

SAAD RAFIQUE: Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting which was also attended by Federal Minister for Railways, Kh Saad Rafique. The meeting reviewed progress of ongoing public welfare projects.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the Punjab government was working on several projects for the balanced development of urban and rural areas and these projects were being completed while ensuring a high standard and transparency. He said that the government had promoted the culture of execution of projects with transparency while equal attention was being paid to the uplift of urban and rural areas. He said that funds were considered a trust of the nation and were being spent only on provision of basic facilities to the masses. He said that under the policy of balanced development, mega projects were also being implemented speedily in backward areas. He said that the second phase of Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme was being implemented successfully and this project of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads would change the lifestyle of the people of villages. He said that a network of hundreds of kilometers long roads would be laid till 2017-18. He said that the project of supply of potable water had also been started from South Punjab and crores of people living in villages would benefit from this project. The meeting also reviewed the matters relating to Bab-e-Pakistan Project and approved devising a new master plan of the project. Kh Saad Rafique appreciated Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s mission of public service and said that he is working round-the-clock for the betterment of masses. He said that Shahbaz Sharif had changed Punjab through completion of a number of development projects and the province was far ahead of other provinces regarding progress and prosperity. He accredited Shahbaz Sharif for all development and said that Shahbaz Sharif is his leader and like an elder brother and he has learnt a lot from him in his political and practical life.

ENVOY: Japanese Ambassador in Pakistan Hiroshi Inomata called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations and promotion of cooperation in different sectors were discussed in the meeting.Talking to the Japanese Ambassador, the chief minister said that there were deep-rooted relations between Pakistan and Japan; however, strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries was the need of the hour. He said that Japan had made tremendous progress due to hard work and it was a role model for the developing countries. He said that effective measures were needed for strengthening economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Japan and there should be maximum exchange of trade delegations between the two countries. He said that Pakistan was facing energy shortage, terrorism and other challenges. He said that the present government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was making sincere efforts to steer the country out of the quagmire of problems and put it on the road to progress and development. He said that Japan was extending commendable cooperation to the Punjab government for the improvement of education, health and civic amenities. 

He said that there were vast opportunities of investment in education, health, energy and other sectors in Punjab. He said that a conducive atmosphere had been created in the province for investment and due to the transparent policies of the government; a large number of foreign investors were showing interest in investment in Punjab.

The Japanese Ambassador said that Japan wanted to strengthen its relations with Pakistan and cooperation with Punjab in different sectors would be promoted.
