Islamabad: Professor Shabbir Lehri and Professor Abid Farooqi were elected the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council president and vice-president respectively on Saturday.
The election took place during the 140th Council meeting here at the PMDC secretariat. The newly elected 28 members attended the meeting to elect the PMDC president, vice president and executive committee. The council also elected as new Executive Committee members Dr. Farukh Ijaz, Dr. Taj Muhammad, Dr. Aamir Hussain, Dr. Feroz Jahangir, Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman and Dr. Mussarat Hussain.
New PMDC President Prof Shabbir Lehri said he will try his utmost to make PM&DC one of the world’s best medical regulatory authorities and that he will equip PM&DC with the state of art technology to promote the image of the Council. He said that he needs the trust and collaboration of all the stake holders in medical education to continue with his responsibilities. "All rules and regulations will be enforced in true letter and spirit to bring about a more positive image of the council."
