Robbers injure three bank guards, take away Rs9m
LAHORE
Three security guards received injuries and at least nine million rupees were looted during a bank dacoity in the Masti Gate police limits on Monday.
The investigation officer said security guards were shifting cash in the security van from a private Bank at Rang Mahal Chowk. Suddenly, two unidentified suspects came and resorted to indiscriminate firing. As a result, three guards received bullet-injuries.
The suspects snatched the cash bag and fled the scene. The injured guards were identified as Naeem, Khalid and Noor. They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The IO said Khalid received three bullet injuries.
Police reached the incident place on information, collected forensic evidences and recorded the statements of the eye-witnesses.
It is worth mentioning here that it is the third big bank robbery in the last three months. In the second week of November 2015, robbers had looted Rs. 90 million from a private bank in Gulberg and fled the scene. About Rs. four million were looted from another privately owned bank in Qila Gujjar Singh.
Police have yet to nab the suspects in both cases despite passing of three months.
boy dies: A 15-year-old unidentified boy died under mysterious circumstances in the Ravi Road police limits on Monday. Police said victim was trying to cross the road near Niazi Shaheed Chowk. Suddenly, he fell down and became unconscious. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidences and recorded the statements of the eye-witnesses. Police said victim may have become victim of swindling. However, autopsy will help ascertain the cause of death.
found dead: A 35-year-old unidentified man was found dead in the Gawalmandi police limits on Monday. Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. A passerby informed the police about the man lying unconscious. Police reached the incident place on information. They shifted the victim to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. Police told The News that victim looked like a drug addict and may have died due to excessive use of drugs. However, autopsy will help ascertain the cause of his death. Police are searching for the family of deceased.
killer held: The CIA city police claimed to have arrested a Proclaimed Offender involved in the killing of a PTI candidate for UC Chairman in Yakki Gate during the LG elections on Monday. PRO to SP CIA Nayyab Haider said arrested suspect was identified as Yousaf Kamboh. The suspect along with his accomplices had opened fire at Tanveer Ahmad, Malik Arif, Khuram Shahzad and others when they were sitting for campaign at the election camp. As a result, Malik Arif and Khuram Shahzad died and six other victims had received injuries.
A case was registered against the suspect and his accomplices in which accused had been declared a Proclaimed Offender. The PO was arrested by a special police team of CIA City. The team raided a hideout on a tip-off and arrested the suspect.
road accidents: At least 666 road traffic accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which five lives were lost and 534 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 237 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by the Emergency Medical Teams. According to the data, 274 drivers, 28 underage drivers, 136 pedestrians and 366 passengers were among victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 153 RTAs were reported to the Lahore Control Room, which affected 156 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 53 RTAs in Faisalabad with 69 victims and Gujranwala remained at third position with 43 RTAs and 46 victims. Details further show that total 776 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 601 males and 175 females, while the age group of the victims showed that 110 were under 18 years of age, 472 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 194 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data, 548 motorbikes, 99 auto rickshaws, 69 motorcars, 24 vans, seven passenger buses, 20 trucks and 85 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
