Target-killings in Karachi down by 43 percent, Nisar tells NA

ISLAMABAD: The ongoing operation in Karachi has resulted in a 43 percent decrease in target-killing and criminal activities, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly on Thursday.

Speaking during the question-hour session of the National Assembly, the interior minister said that 517 extortionists, 630 proclaimed offenders and 118 kidnappers have been arrested in the operation so far.

ISLAMABAD: The ongoing operation in Karachi has resulted in a 43 percent decrease in target-killing and criminal activities, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly on Thursday.

Speaking during the question-hour session of the National Assembly, the interior minister said that 517 extortionists, 630 proclaimed offenders and 118 kidnappers have been arrested in the operation so far.

14,253 weapons of different kinds have also been recovered during the operation conducted jointly by Rangers and police personnel, Nisar told lawmakers.

Effective steps have also been taken to crack down on drug trafficking and human smuggling while some arrests have also been carried out in the past few days in this regard, he said.

The interior minister also said that some foreign embassies in Pakistan were also involved in backing institutions of illicit activity, which the government was trying to stop.
