PESHAWAR: Former chief secretary Khyber Pakhtun khwa and intellectual Abdullah Wednesday urged the teachers to focus attention on character building of the students besides their studies to bring about change in the society through reforms.
“The teachers must bring about change through reform, which certainly would be slow but durable change. The change introduced through revolution and use of force would be fast but short-lived,” he said, while delivering a lecture on ‘the role of teacher in the society at the Khyber Union Hall of Islamia College, Peshawar.
The lecture was attended by a large number of faculty members of the historic Islamia College and its constituent institutions.
About change in the society, Abdullah said the only revolution was the classroom revolution. “The teachers must be a symbol for others to follow,” he said and added that he must transmit knowledge and the best qualities to the students.
