Apart from certain reservations, almost every political party seems to be content with outcome of the ongoing clean-up operation in Karachi and has called for its continuation.
Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded of the federal government to carry on the indiscriminate operation till the end of the last criminal.
Addressing the Central Shura of Islami Jamiat Talba on Sunday, he said lasting peace in the city could only be restored through an indiscriminate operation against the criminal elements.
Talking to The News, former Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim viewed that the operation in Karachi should be across the board and not against any particular party only.
He went on saying that operation was also required against rampant corruption in Sindh.
While talking to The News from Islamabad, recently re-elected Pakistan People’s Party Senator Farhatullah Babar, while lauding the role of the Rangers expressed the hope that the operation would yield positive results.
In his comments on the raid on Muttahida headquarters ‘90’, Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) MPA Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh said that the raid was conducted by Rangers against the terrorists.
“Rangers and law enforcement agencies were bound to take action over presence of terrorists.”
Another PML (F) MPA Nusrat Saher Abbasi said that it was high time that MQM eliminated terrorist elements from its fold, stressing “the operation against terrorists was started with the consensus of all the parties.”
Moreover, talking to The News, Irfanullah Marwat emphasised on continuation of the operation against terrorists, adding it should continue till the last terrorist was eliminated.
The Pakistan Muslim League (N) praised the efforts by Rangers and law enforcing agencies and the incidents of target killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom has declined considerably.
Furthermore, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen spokesman Ali Ahmer said that Zarb-e-Azb-like operation should be carried out in Karachi also to get rid of terrorism and extremism.
However, he opined, “There are militant elements among different parties also. Action should also be taken against them too. Why only MQM?
