ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Secretary Public Relations Zahid Hussain Kazmi on Saturday alleged that the PML-N candidates of the upcoming local bodies polls were misusing the government machinery and enjoying the banned outfits’ support to put pressure on his party candidates.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, he alleged that the ruling party candidates were employing all possible tactics to establish their monopoly in Rawalpindi, as they had done during the cantonment board elections.
“Local bodies’ elections are scheduled for December 5, 2015 in Rawalpindi district; it is to bring into your kind notice that our opponent party PML-N is violating election code of conduct. For creating same monopoly as was created in Cantt Board polls, they are using every mean by force, money or any other illegal activity which could help them,” he charged in the letter.
He alleged that candidates of PML-N were putting pressure on opponent candidates, using the government machinery, taking support from the banned organisations. “They have been using arms openly with guards. These all tactics are utilised to put pressure on general public changing their opinion to vote,” he said.
He accused the police of throwing support to PML-N candidates, through CPO, DSPs and local police stations, where police escort their candidates in local constituencies.
Kazmi, who is also PTI’s organiser in NA-54, requested the chief election commissioner to take notice of all stated matters and instruct all related offices to remain neutral. Moreover the elections might be conducted under direct supervision of Army as local departments were in direct influence, he emphasised.
A copy of the letter has been forwarded also to the corps commander, Rawalpindi.
