ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved awarding of 800 scholarships for students belonging to Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).
The CDWP meeting, which held under chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, approved award of 800 scholarships to students from the IHK under prime minister’s directive at the cost of Rs940.97 million.
The meeting also approved 300 scholarships to students from Afghanistan under PM directives at the cost of Rs4201.161 million. Under Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme 2015-18, the government approved a project at the cost of Rs24.490 billion.
The CDWP approved construction of accommodation, training and administrative block and barracks for establishment of Rapid Response Force for Islamabad Capital Territory Police Islamabad at the cost of Rs1853.105 million, construction of accommodation for 1xSSD Wing at Shakas at the cost of Rs.410.517 million and construction of residential accommodation for National Accountability Bureau (KP) at Hyatabad Peshawar at the cost of Rs524.186 million.
The meeting approved Ghabir Dam Chakwal at the cost of Rs5665.493 million. Engineering design of Jalalpur Irrigation Project at the cost of Rs497.876 million, Economic Transformation Initiatives in Gilgit Balochistan at the cost of Rs12315.4 million and Special Programme for Strengthening SPS Facilities and Quality Inspection Services in compliance with WTO - establishment of an integrated animal and plant health inspection services at the cost of Rs472.038 million.
The CDWP approved twenty-one projects worth Rs89126 million under the chair of Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal in the Planning Commission today.
The Evacuation of Power from 1320 MW Imported Coal Based Power Plant near Sahiwal Rs1413.01 million.
The main objective of the project is evacuation of 1,320 MW of power from proposed Coal Fired Power Plant near Sahiwal to upcountry load centers. Detailed scope of work is (i) laying of transmission line (0.5 km) and installation of associated equipments, and (ii) Addition of 600 MVA 500/200 Kv transformer along with allied equipment.
The CDWP approved land acquisition for converter stations & grounding stations at both ends of 600KV HVDC transmission line from Matiari to Lahore (CPEC Project) Rs 2,353.00 million.
The main objective of the project is acquisition of a land for converter stations and grounding/electrode stations at Matiari and Lahore for transfer of about 4000MW power from south to upcountry load centers.
Land acquisition for converter stations and grounding stations at both ends of 600KV HVDC transmission line from Port Qasim to Faisalabad at the cost of Rs2476.50 million.
Acquisition of land for railway container yard, station and railway line from seaport to coastal highway at Gwadar Rs 1,332.00 million.
The project envisages acquisition of 412 acres of land for railway container yard from Gwadar Port to Gwadar Railway container yard that will have capacity to handle about 500 railway bogie type freight wagons. The scope of work also includes construction of Railway rest house including allied facilities etc. Rehabilitation & Extension of concrete sleeper factories at Khanewal & Sukkur Rs2190.00 million.
The project envisages enhancing the production capacity of both factories at Khanewal and Sukkur. With the proposed rehabilitation and extension, the production capacity shall be enhanced to 450,000 & 300,000 per annum as compared to 225,000 and 200,000 sleepers respectively. Dualisation and rehabilitation of track between Port Qasim and Bin Qasim stations Rs1611.052 million. The project is proposed to be implemented for efficient transportation of coal to the power plants at Jamshoro, Qadirabad (Sahiwal), Muzaffar Garh and Rahim Yar Khan. The land required for construction of additional line/track will be provided by the Port Qasim authorities. Rs1000 million has been allocated this financial year in PSDP budget.
Construction of Yakmach - Kharan Road Project (200 km) Rs13758.00 million. The project envisages construction of 200 Km blacktop road in district Chaghai and passing through Dostain Wadh in district Washuk before terminating at Kharan. The scope of work also includes construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, drainage and ancillary works.
Strengthening of academic & research facilities at University of Health Sciences, Lahore Rs813.171 million. University is targeting to increase the annual enrolment of students in campus based educational programmes to 1145 by the year 2018. The present project is aimed at developing infrastructure and allied facilities at KSK Campus for the expansion of existing departments of Basic Medical Sciences.
Completion of Leftover work on Academic Blocks at Hazara University Mansehra Rs662.179 million.
The project envisages construction of 24 lecture rooms, 10 computer labs, procurement of ICT equipments and furniture for all the eight blocks etc. Rs250 million in PSDP has been allocated this financial year.
Development of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar Rs735.564 million. The PC-1 of the project was approved in 2008 by CDWP with implementation period of five years. The quantifiable targets of the project are civil works, purchase of lab equipment, teaching aids, furniture, books & journals etc. Rs399 million has been allocated in PSDP budget so far.Coal Transportation by Rail to Jamshoro Power Plant at the cost of Rs.10393.822 million.
