ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of mild intensity jolted various districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday night. However, no loss was reported due to the quake.
According to the geological wing of the PMD, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale was felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Murree, Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Attock, Sahiwal, Kasur, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Vehari, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Chiniot, Peshawar, Nowshera, Lower and Upper Dir, Swat, Chitral, Shangla, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Balakot, Ghizer, Gilgit, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Rwalakot, Bagh, Hattian Bala and Neelum.
People of the areas where the earthquake was felt rushed out of their homes in panic reciting verses from the Holy Quran.The epicentre of the earthquake was bordering Afghanistan and Tajikistan and was 86 kilometres deep.
