Bus bombings in Kabul leave eight dead
KABUL: An explosion targeted a bus on Tuesday evening near the Ahlolbait Mosque in the Sar-e-Karez area of PD3 in Kabul city, and was followed by another later in the evening. A security source told TOLOnews that at least 8 people were killed and 14 were wounded in the two blasts. Eyewitnesses said there were about 30 casualties. The two buses held dozens of passengers and were headed toward Dashte-e-Barchi in western Kabul.
Meanwhile, four security force members were killed in a car bomb attack by the Taliban on the police headquarters in Baghlan-e-Markazi district in the northern province of Baghlan on Monday evening, officials said Tuesday.
The attack took place at around 6:30 pm local time when a Humvee loaded with explosives was detonated near the police headquarters in the district, Baghlan police said in a statement. The district police chief and some police officers were wounded in the attack, a security official, who wished not to be named, said. According to the official, the attack was followed by a gunfight by some attackers who entered the police headquarters. But special forces shortly after the attack said the situation “was under their control.” Some civilian homes in the area were damaged in the attack, an army commander Farid Sayed Khili said. “The explosion was huge and damaged civilian homes even 500 meters away. It caused financial damages to the people,” Sayed Khili said.
