Punjab govt likely to give 16pc tax immunity to media ads

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Information Minister Fayazul Hasan Chohan has said that the provincial government is mulling over to give 16pc provincial tax immunity to media in advertisement and likely to make payments of ads on daily basis.

He said relief package for media people announced by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar two days ago is in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

While reacting with the demand of President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahbaz Sharif that the media industry should be given interest-free loans and other incentives,he said during the regime of PML-N, Sharif brothers even did not pay the billions of rupees outstanding amount against the self-promotional ads of Sharif family.

The PTI government paid the amount under the special instructions of the PM, he added. The provincial minister said it was an ample proof of the premier’s friendship with the media. He said the government stand firm with the media owners as well as workers and we are here to facilitate media under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, he added.
