Govt committed to health, welfare, safety of every worker: Maryam

CM expressed her views on the World Day of Safety and Health at Workplace

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that they are committed to health, welfare and safety of every worker in Punjab.

She expressed these views in her message on the ‘World Day of Safety and Health at Workplace’ on Sunday. “The purpose of celebrating Occupational Safety Day is to reaffirm our commitment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for workers at workplace.”

She said, “Workers’ safety comes first. We would make sure they get home safely every day. The Punjab government has already started an occupational safety campaign in collaboration with the private institutions.”

Chief Minister Maryam said, “Awareness of workplace safety culture is essential in factories, offices, construction sites and farms.” She added, “Accidents can be prevented through the implementation of safety act and training.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam congratulated SSP Riffat Bokhari on being selected to receive “Excellency in Performance Award.” Maryam acknowledged the professional services of the woman SSP on being selected for receiving the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) award. “Daughters like Riffat Bokhari are a ray of light for the women. I heartily congratulate her on being selected to receive the IAWP award. Riffat Bokhari’s extraordinary devotion and exemplary services for women protection was highly praiseworthy.

“The woman police officer of Punjab Police brightened the name of Pakistan at the international level. I profoundly extol the services of Riffat Bokhari for apprehending the culprits with the help of artificial intelligence along with preparing the intelligent traffic management system and road safety mechanism.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam expressed her profound sorrow over the murder of Sub Inspector Arshad in Misri Shah. The CM expressed her heartfelt sympathy with the family members of martyred Sub Inspector and sought a detailed report from IG Police in this regard. She directed to undertake a probe of sub inspector’s murder along with bringing the accused in the grip of law.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz expressed her deep sense of sorrow over the death of senior politician and central party leader Afzal Tarar. She expressed her condolence with his daughter Saira Afzal Tarar. “Afzal Tarar is a close, trustworthy and a loyal companion of Nawaz Sharif and my affectionate elder as well. His death is a profound shock for all of us. May it be the reign of dictatorship, any political struggle or tenure of a government, Afzal Tarar remained steadfast with the party on the path of truth like a staunch loyal companion.”

She said Afzal Tarar did not switch sides with the change of political climate. He was an honest person who believed in treading on the right path along with serving the humanity.
