ISLAMABAD: Nausheen Javaid Amjad Wednesday assumed charge as the Chairperson Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) after the government notified her appointment with effect from April 8, 2020.
In her maiden interaction with the media after appointment as the chairperson, Nausheen seemed upbeat about setting right the direction of the FBR. However, she argued that since all kind of economic activities had almost come to a halt in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, mentioning the desired tax target had become irrelevant.
However, she assured that the FBR would spare no effort to collect each and every due penny for the sake of national exchequer.
Nausheen said the FBR had paid one of highest refund amounts in a short span of time last week and there was not a single complaint of any wrongdoing.
Nausheen joined the Pakistan Civil Service in October 1985 by securing 13th position in the CSS exam. She belongs to the 13th common income tax group.
Nausheen joined the service in Lahore and was later transferred to Karachi in 1994 where she held several important positions. In 2002, she was selected for Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU), the most prestigious unit in the FBR where she served until 2015.
She had the unique privilege to serve as Commissioner for all zones of LTU.
In September 2015 she became Chief Commissioner regional tax office 11 Karachi.
Additionally, she was the founding Chief Commissioner of LTU 11.
After moving to Islamabad in October 2016, she was designated as the member FATE, FBR.
Recently, in March 2017 she was appointed as the Member IT FBR. She remained Member Audit and Member Administration at the FBR Headquarters.
