KARACHI: President PML-N Business Forum Mirza Ishtiaq Baig has expressed his concerns over extension of 14-day physical remand of Jang/GEO Group Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman by Lahore Accountability Court.
Baig said Islamabad High Court has ordered to release over 408 prisoners in the view of coronavirus, however, keeping Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman behind bars and extending his physical remand by the Accountability Court is contradiction, and putting Mir Shakil’s life in danger.
Ishtiaq demanded the government to immediately release chief of the largest media house in the country as a good will gesture. He said the nation currently fighting a war against coronavirus and economic challenges, and the issues could be resolved through cooperation and mutual understanding .
Court also observed that it would not intervene in the policy matters of the government
