At the age of 80 when most of the people enjoy a stress-free and happy retire life like many retired bureaucrats and top officials do after their retirement; there are few people who chose to live a life where they can help others particularly the people of least developed areas.
Dil Jan Khan, Adviser Ministry of Interior, who retired in 1994 as Inspector General (IG) Police started working for the welfare of the people of least developed and remote areas soon after his retirement.
For this purpose he established basic health centers in the rural areas to provide quality primary health care services to the rural communities. In order to provide basic health facilities he established an NGO naming Dil Jan Foundation which since then is arranging free medical camps to treat the people of the rural areas and create awareness among them about common prevailing diseases.
The foundation is also providing financial help to poor people of villages and supporting the students for their overall development. The foundation is working for the poverty reduction and improving quality of life of poor.
The foundation works for controlling communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health services to the community. The foundation has established a basic health unit in Begukheli Lakki Marwat since 2005. The unit provides primary health care services and emergency medical care to the poor communities of Lakki Marwat. The BHU is staffed with an MBBS doctor, dispenser and a dresser where every patient is examined free of cost and medicines are also given to the poor patients.
The foundation has treated more than 40,000 deserving patients since 2006 and it is also working on providing shelter facilities to the old people children and disabled persons in the area. It is also working for the welfare of people who have suffered the natural calamities.
