Bar associations elect office-bearers in KP
PESHAWAR: The district bar associations elected office-bearers across the province on Saturday.
Taimor Ali Shah was elected as president of Peshawar District Bar Association and Qaiser Zaman as general secretary. Other office-bearers are Izaharullah, vice-president, Kaleemullah general secretary and Mehwish, Finance secretary, and Rahil Iqbal, secretsry library .
NOWSHERA: Syed Sajjad Ali Shah Kakakhel advocate and Muhammad Usman advocate were elected president and general secretary of the District Bar Association, Nowshera.
Similarly, Zahir Shah Afridi was elected vice president, Himayatullah advocate, joint secretary and Faizan Rasool advocate, finance secretary. Chief Election Commissioner Attaullah Jan advocate and its members Jawad Ali advocate, Safiullah advocate and Rabnawaz advocate supervised the polls. A tough contest was witnessed between the six-party and tripartite alliances during the election. The Insaf Lawyers Forum except presidentship lost all the seats in the election owing to the division in its ranks.
ABBOTTABAD: Muhammad Asad Khan Jadoon advocate has been elected president of the Abbottabad District Bar Association. The elections were supervised by Mohiuddin advocate at the newly-construed bar room where 490 votes were polled, out of the total 545 votes. Only five votes were declared invalid. The elections were held peacefully from 9am to 4pm. The police were also deployed in the area for security measures.
Asad Khan Jadoon won the slot of president by getting 214 votes against 169 of his opponent candidate Masood Awan. The female presidential candidate, Shabnam Nawaz, received 99 votes. Aziz Tanoli advocate won the general secretary seat by obtaining 292 votes, against his opponent Asif Abbassi’s 189 votes. Those elected unopposed included Nasir Ayub Khan as vice president, Salik Hussain as club secretary, Jawad bin Daud as additional secretary, Muhammad Adnan Younis as finance secretary and Ahmed Arbaz Pervez as library secretary. Four executive body members were also elected unopposed, including Azra Iftikhar, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Muhammad Shahabuddin and Mehboob Sultan.
Asad Khan Jadoon thanked the lawyer community for showing confidence over him and assured to make efforts for the welfare of the community.
HARIPUR: Election of District Bar Association Haripur was held. Syed Shahid Mehboob was elected as president who secured 221 votes against three times president Asadullah Malik who could bag 189 votes. Mohibullah Qureshi was elected general secretary bagging 297 votes while Latifur Rehman, was elected vice-president.
KARAK: Malik Rehman was elected as district president of the District Bar Association (DBA) Karak.
