The 18-day long colourful Spring Carnival came to an end on Wednesday which remained a centre of entertainment and a platform to showcase talent for the students of International Islamic University (IIU), Islamabad, at its male campus.
The Spring Carnival, which was organised by the Students Advisor Office (male), concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
Debate competitions, quiz competitions, essay writing, poetry recitation, Hifz-e-Quran and ‘Naat’ competition, social events, book fair, sports and other enthralling activities were the main features at the event.
The closing and prize distribution ceremony was joined by the IIU Vice President Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Deputy Dean Islamic Studies Dr. Haroon ur Rasheed, Students Adviser Dr. Hafiz Abid Masood, Additional Students Advisor Dr. Abdul Qadir Haroon, event organisers from faculty and a large number of students.
“Education is not all about books and exams but it becomes complete with co-curricular and extracurricular activities,” said Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan.
He said healthy activities are necessary for healthy life. He added that Islam is a religion of peace and it’s a complete code of life which covers all aspects of human life including sports activities.
The IIU VP said the university had been organising such activities since its establishment and every year it produced talented personalities after exploring their talent and skills.
He congratulated the winners and organisers for arranging a successful gala.
Dr. Harron ur Rasheed shared his thoughts by saying that Islam encourage sports activities and IIU is proud to provide platform to its students as they gear up their talent and skills by using this plat form.
Dr. Hafiz Abid Masood, whose office was busy in dealing with more than 30 activities for almost three weeks, vowed that his office would keep arranging such constructive activities in future. He added that talented IIU students are the proud of university as they are its ambassadors.
Students were overwhelmed after receiving their shields and prizes for their victories.
Ridwan Miftakhul Rochman, an Indonesian student at IIU’s Politics and IR Department, clinched positions in photography, calligraphy, sketching and oil painting.
“You ultimately win when you love your work and do it with passion,” he said after experiencing rounds of applause for his again and again nomination in the ceremony.
