The students of Jack and Jill Montessori and High School organised an innovative, imaginative and creative way of reiterating the importance of ‘Eating Healthy Food’ relating it to adding ‘Colours to Life’ here on Tuesday.
The entire premises of the school were tastefully decorated with models of fruits and vegetables and the children suitably attired in the corresponding colours of the foods. The juniors dressed in ‘Green’ attire explained that leafy greens were resplendent with anti-oxidants and full of fibre. These foods aid in digestion and keep the system running at 100%.
The next came ‘Red’ helping blood circulation of the head and heart. From pomegranates to tomatoes, the rich red foods provide great taste and give the body systems a healthy boost. The class three presented the benefits of ‘Orange’, from the goodness of oranges to the crunchy flavours of carrots — foods which fight germs and give anti-inflammatory protection to the body.
Munching on ‘Purple’ cabbages, grapes and cherries and cooking eggplants, turnips and onions helps protect the nervous system. The bright ‘Yellow’ foods aid in fortifying elasticity of the skin so tasty bananas, pineapples and mangoes are not only delicious but help the digestive system.
Finally ‘White,’ last but not least, includes dairy products and fish. These provide strength for our immune system and help make bones stronger.
Jack and Jill Montessori and High School Principal Tahmeena Malik said the learning was amazing. She said “fill up your plates with colourful foods and let the rainbow of health keep your minds and bodies fit for an active and healthy life. The students had a great day enjoying the fun filled activity.
