Tehrik Labbaik resumes sit-in Gives 48-hour to enforce agreement
LAHORE: Tehrik Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) began a fresh sit-in outside Data Darbar Monday evening, giving 48-hour deadline to the government to implement the Fazabad agreement, failing which a countrywide movement could be launched against the rulers.
The sit-in titled Tehrik Tajdar Khatm-e-Nabuwwat is being led by Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Pir Afzal Qadri and other leaders. Briefing media at the sit-in, the TLP leaders said the Faizabad agreement was supervised by the Prime Minister, signed by federal secretary interior, and Gen Faiz Hameed negotiated on behalf of the army chief, but it was not implemented by the government. They emphasized that TLP had never violated the Faizabad agreement and ended the sit-ins at Islamabad and Lahore immediately.
The TLP leaders lamented that instead of implementing the agreement by withdrawing cases against TLP workers, the government issued arrest warrants against TLP leaders. They said TLP was compelled to chalk out a fresh line of action against the government because the rulers were not sincere in restoring religious peace in the country by honoring their words.
