‘Don’ has replaced ‘godfather’, says Imran
LALAMUSA: PTI Chairman Imran Khan, reacting to replacing Nawaz Sharif with Shahbaz Sharif as PML-N president, on Tuesday said the ‘godfather’ had been swapped with a ‘don’. “Nawaz Sharif is gone and now it’s Shahbaz Sharif’s turn to be ousted,” he said.
About Nawaz repeatedly asking why he was removed from the prime minister’s office, Imran said he should stop asking the question and present himself for accountability for the theft he had committed during his rule.
Addressing gatherings at Kutchery Chowk, Gujrat, and other places on Tuesday, he said: “If we improve country’s system and make it corruption-free, no Pakistani will have to go abroad to find a job.”
Continuing his tirade against former premier Nawaz Sharif, Imran said the Pakistan Muslim League-N leader was fooling people. "Everyone knows what is going on at police stations in Punjab," the PTI chief added.
"Allah has given the nation everything. The day we improve the country’s system, only then will we progress," he said while addressing party supporters here. "Nations make progress when they spend money on people, not on building roads," added the PTI chief. "The day a student from Tanda becomes the country's prime minister, only then can we achieve great things," he said.
The PTI chief said the government must invest in the people for a brighter future. “Allah Almighty has given every blessing in your country. If Pakistan is not a developed country today, it is not because Allah Almighty does not give blessings here.
“The reason for this is that the rulers of this country are looting its wealth. It can never develop despite Allah's blessings if the rulers continuing looting it.” About Shahbaz remarks that Nawaz is the biggest leader of Pakistan after Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Imran said Nawaz could never be equated with the Quaid-e-Azam as the PML-N supremo had looted the wealth of this nation and taken it abroad, while the Quaid was the most honest person among politicians of those times.
Imran said his party would field such candidates in the upcoming elections who would change the destiny of the country after reaching the assemblies. He called upon the people of Gujrat to fill in the PTI membership forms and become its members. When you people would highlight problems of your city, it would help the PTI solve them, he added.
Imran Khan also welcomed the Supreme Court probe into personal glorification of political leaders in government advertisements. In a tweet, the PTI chief said: "We welcome the CJ probe into adverts where SS (Shahbaz Sharif) was told to return the taxpayers' money he spent on personal publicity. Nowhere in the world is taxpayer money used so shamelessly for personal publicity as in Pakistan. No wonder people are reluctant to pay their taxes," he added.
