40 traffic wardens promoted
LAHORE
Forty traffic wardens have been promoted as senior traffic wardens during a ceremony at Capital City Police Officer Office on Friday.
CCPO Amin Wains, SSP Admin, CTO Rai Ijaz Ahmad, SP City and SP Sadar traffic were also present on the occasion. CCPO pinned the new ranks to the wardens. It was for the first time since the inception of force in 2007 that the wardens were promoted. They had been working on the same rank for over a decade. Traffic wardens were introduced by the PML-Q government in 2007. The decision to promote traffic wardens was taken in November 2016 during a meeting chaired by IG Mushtaq Sukhera. The IG had ordered DIG Traffic Farooq Mazhar to devise their service structure and promote them accordingly. This was first phase of promotion of wardens. Rest of the wardens will also be promoted gradually. The process to take rest of them in loop was in the pipeline. Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Amin Wains said he himself remained a part of their force as he has served as SP Traffic Lahore, SP Headquarters, CTO and DIG Traffic.
