Eligibility criteria
According to some media reports, the eligibility criterion of a lecturer has been changed. Previously, the minimum qualification of a lecturer was 16 years of education, but now the bar has gone up. A person can apply for the position of a lecturer if s/he has completed 18 years of education (M Phil). Universities are advised to implement the decision latest by June 2017. This is an unfair decision taken by the HEC. A majority of people apply for a job after completing their 16 years of education. A full-time employee cannot leave the job to pursue higher studies.
Those students who have completed their education under financial pressure should not be put in such situation. A large number of students aspire to be a lecturer in an education institution. The relevant authorities should take all aspects into consideration before implementing the decision.
