Broken roads
The main reason of the traffic problem in Karachi is the city’s poor infrastructure. Almost every main street is broken or dug up. University Road is one such example. Students get stuck for hours in the traffic. Driving on the road is nothing less than a nightmare. The road is the most common route of public buses. Reckless driving of bus drivers has resulted in a large number of accidents.
Public buses are always overcrowded with a large number of people sitting on the rooftop. Last month, a fatal accident happened on University Road. A speeding bus overturned and fell on a group of people. Such incidents can be avoided if the Sindh government take appropriate action. The traffic authorities should come up with a long-term strategy to resolve the problems of traffic jams and rash driving in the city. This is important to ensure the safety of commuters.
