A failed summit

This refers to the letter, ‘The ECO summit’ (Mar 03), by Aleem ur Rehman. Besides causing inconvenience to the people of the federal capital, the summit achieved nothing except handshakes, exchange of pleasantries and aimless speeches.

The entire exercise was a waste of resources and time which could have been better spent on other pressing needs. At best, the assembly of leaders from the regional countries was just a publicity stunt. The ECO will die a natural death as the RCD did earlier.
