Tribute paid to APS martyrs

PESHAWAR: Paying tribute to the martyrs of Army Public School (APS) attack, the speakers at a seminar here on Saturday vowed that they would raise voice against terrorism and extremism.

The seminar was organised at the Peshawar Press Club under the auspices of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Youth Wing district Peshawar to mark the second anniversary of the APS attack.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, central general secretary (PAT), Mazhar Mehmood Alvi, PAT Youth Wing president, Farah Naz, Women Wing Nazima, Khalid Mehmood Durrani, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PAT president, Jamshed Ali Khan, PAT district Peshawar president, Dr Shabbir Gilani, Ameer Minhajul Quran, Peshawar, Amjad Ali Shah and others.

Khurram Gandapur said that they would not rest until terrorism was defeated and peace restored.

He added the nation had been divided into sects and on the basis of sectarianism through a conspiracy.

“We want equal rights and independence for every individual and society. Every religion, culture and language is respectable. Islam has no connection with terrorism,” he said.

Khurram Gandapur added that youth had a vital role in bringing change in the system. He urged the young generation to strive for the noble cause.

The speakers presented a list of demands, including the continuation of the operation Zarb-e-Azb till the elimination of terrorism.

They demanded reforms in the seminaries and audit of foreign aid to the religious schools of learning.

The speaker asked the government to ban speeches and writing fanning hate and extremism.

The participants of the seminar offered fateha for
the APS martyrs and showed solidarity with the bereaved families.
