PESHAWAR: The Provincial Housing Authority (PHA) has approved the proposal to construct the Peshawar Model Town and other housing schemes in partnership with private builders.
The decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of the PHA chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Housing Dr. Amjad Ali while Dr. Jamal Yousaf, secretary Housing Department Ijaz Afzal, director general, PHA, Saif-ur-Rehman Usmani, director Town Planning and officers from the Planning and Development Department (P&D), Local Government, Finance and Board of Revenue also attended.
The meeting, besides other matters, reviewed the offers of multiple housing schemes of Peshawar Model Town, Abuha Housing Scheme Swat, Surizai Housing Scheme, Gari Behram and Gari Zardad Housing Scheme Charsadda, Swaari Housing Scheme Buner, Dangram Housing Scheme and Hangu Housing Scheme on the basis of “Develop As You Sell” (DAYS) for the development of infrastructure.
The offer proposal was approved unanimously for Public Private Partnership (PPP) model of DAYS under which the private sector will plan, design and build the infrastructure including roads, sewerage water supply, etc.
The private partner would have to follow detailed specifications and carry out the marketing and sale of plots. It will retain its share on recovery for the plots it sells.
The PHA also approved allocation of quota for overseas Pakistanis in the housing schemes and decided to hold Housing Road shows for overseas Pakistanis in Middle Eastern countries and other countries. It was decided that 10 percent quota in all categories of plots in Jalozai Housing Scheme would be reserved for overseas Pakistanis.
