PTI leaders accuse PPP MPA of corruption

CHITRAL: The local leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday accused lawmaker Saleem Khan of corruption and taking credit for the development work being carried out by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the far-off mountainous district.

Speaking at a press conference here, PTI leader Abdul Latif wondered how the owner of a Rs50,000 worth herbal shop became a millionaire in such a short period of time.

Flanked by other party leaders including Muhammad Qasim, Aftab Tahir, Muhammad Yaqub and others, he claimed they had challenged the lawmaker for a public debate to defend the allegations against him but he was avoiding the challenge as he could not defend himself.

He said the lawmaker was criticising the PTI-led provincial government but taking credit for the uplift work being carried by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Chitral. He said the people were mature and could not be fooled by such unfounded claims.

Abdul Latif said the provincial government had approved Rs170 million funds for district headquarters hospital Chitral, Rs400 million for upgrading the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Drosh and the vacant doctor positions in the district was being filled.

Apart from this, he said, that the government would approve Rs800 million and Rs400 million for two projects of Public Health Department in the coming days.He said that work on 55 micro-hydel projects was underway, adding that the provincial government had also distributed Rs1.90 billion among the floods affectees in Chitral.On the occasion, Professor Rehmat Karim Baig announced joining the PTI.
