Illegal buildings demolished
LAHORE
A special squad of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) made to demolish illegal constructions in LDA control areas carried out a flag march in various private housing societies and LDA’s own housing societies on Thursday.
The LDA officials said the march was carried out in Johar Town, Wapda Town, Allama Iqbal Town and other areas. They said heavy machinery required for razing buildings and contingent of police also accompanied the squad.
The officials said during its operation against illegal constructions, the special squad demolished six buildings and sealed another five at different places in the city.
In PIA Society, near entrance of Wapda Town, an under-construction commercial building was demolished and a stern warning was issued to other under-construction building owners against violating building laws and regulations.
On main Canal Road near Hurbanspura police station, the LDA demolished foundations of an illegal under-construction house. It also pulled down a commercial hall near Rizwan Garden.
Structure of an old marriage hall near Medical Housing Society was demolished. A commercial market was also demolished and new construction was halted at the site.
In Allama Iqbal Town area, the LDA staff demolished the under-construction fourth floor of a building at plot No 120 of Asif block besides sealing five structures on plot No 12,162,163 and 164 for Karim Block and plot 14 of Mamdot block Mustafa Town.
The LDA officials said the drive against illegal constructions and violation of building laws will continue and LDA has adopted zero tolerance policy in this regard.
The LDA officials advised the citizens to check legal status of all buildings before making any financial or physical transactions.
